The Grid SIG is a horizontal activity taking from other SIGs and domains all elements which might help us to deal with heterogeneous environment. The main topics cover those aspects which help to significantly decrease administration overheads and build a production grid with enough security.
From that point of view we are interested in all products (not only SGI), which make the lives easier. We are very interested in all kind of solutions and customer experiences in this area.
The group exchanges information on how to work with SGI solutions to satisfy raising demand for computational power both in the scientific and industrial community by connecting several systems into clusters, several sites into domains and how to exchange resources (e.g. computational power) between independent institutions.

We will not try to work out any standards, since this is a domain of the Global Grid Forum.

The key topic for 2004 is 'Best practices for Grids'.
