Conference Dates

The SGI User Group Conference SGIUG 2008 will be held June 9-12, 2008 in Los Angeles, CA USA.

We are using a third party registration and submission site. It is the same one we used in the past. You may use the same "user name" and "password" you used last year.

Conference Location

Our conference hotel is the Renaissance Montura Hotel Los Angeles Airport in Los Angeles, California. This is a Marriott Hotel. It is just a few blocks from the Los Angeles Airport (LAX).

Hotel Reservations

Reservations for the Event must be made by individual attendees directly with Marriott reservations at Marriott reservations at 1-888-293-0~23 or 1-310-337 by Friday, May 16,2008. Please mention "SGI Users Group".

There is a conference rate $159 single/double per night.
There are limited rooms available at the US Government rate of $118. This rate is good from Sunday night June 8th thru Thursday night, June 12th, the end of the conference. This includes single or double rooms.
There is a $10/night fee for each additional person in the room.

Please notify the hotel of any accommodations you may need for any disability you may have.

Complimentary local calls, toll calls within the US and hi-speed wired Internet for registered guests in guest rooms. You may need a cat5 wire.

Complimentary roundtrip airport shuttle service available for all guests.
Special group parking rates are $15 for self and $18 for valet parking/per day.

Early Bird Conference Registration fee of $795 USD ends May 15, 2008.
Regular Conference Registration fee is $895 USD.

Note, if you have to cancel your conference registration before May 15, 2008, we will refund 80% of the registration fee. If you cancel after May 15, 2008 we may have to keep additional monies to cover commitments we will make with the Hotel in your behalf. After June 1, 2008, we will consider refunds on an individual basis.

Conference Meals

During the conference (Monday - Thursday) your registration fee includes breakfast, lunch, and breaks. There will be refreshments with Lunch.
If you have any special dietary requirements, please let us know during registration or at our registration desk at the conference.
There are many other food choices in the hotel. To see what is available click here. There is a Burger King hamburger joint across the street in front of the hotel that is open from 5:30AM to 2:00AM for those that get hungry for something different.

People with Disabilities

This hotel is ADA compliant. The conference organizers will make every effort possible to accommodate those attending the conference with disabilities.

Airport Information

Los Angeles Airport (LAX) is located 2/10ths of a mile East of the hotel.

For information about Internet access at Los Angeles International Airport, click here. The service is available from curbside to the nose of an aircraft, provided as a T-Mobile Hot Spot. There is a charge of $6USD for the first hour, or $9.99/for 24 hours.

Please remember to have proper Identification, passports, etc. with you at all times.

Transportation

Taxis are available at the airport. Taxis can be found curbside on the Lower/Arrival Level islands in front of each terminal under the yellow sign indicating Taxis. Passengers will be presented with a ticket stating typical fares to major destinations. Only authorized taxis with an official seal issued by City of Los Angeles Department of Transportation on each vehicle are permitted in the airport. It is illegal for any transportation services to solicit fares, and travelers using such services do so at their own risk. The estimated cost of a taxi, one way is $20.

The hotel provides complimentary 24 hour transportation between the hotel and LAX. Please look for the NEW Ocean Blue buses picking up passengers under the Red 'Hotel Transportation' Sign outside baggage claim.

Each hotel guest room wired high speed internet included in the room rate. Bring your CAT5 wire.

Smoking Policy

Smoking is not allowed in any conference meetings. This Marriott hotel is a non-smoking hotel.

110-120 Volts, 60 cycle standard United States power levels.

Precipitation is rare in June.
Our hotel is just a mile from the Pacific Ocean, so evenings may feel cool and breezy.
The hotel has an outdoor heated swimming pool and an indoor kids pool. Bring your bathing suit.

Monday evening, Welcome Reception.
Tuesday afternoon and evening, SGIUG Partner Reception.
Wednesday is the conference "night out" to be determined.
