Conference Dates

The SGI User Group Conference SGIUG 2007 will be held May 21-24, 2007 in Minneapolis MN.

Conference Location

Our conference hotel is the Minneapolis Airport Marriott Hotel, in Bloomington, MN, located in the parking lot of the giant Mall of America. We have held other user group conferences in this hotel and it suits our needs. This Marriott is a non-smoking hotel.

Hotel Reservations

Reservations for the Event must be made by individual attendees directly with Marriott reservations at (800) 228-9290 or (952) 854-7441. Please mention "SGI Users Group." Guests should refer to this name when calling to make their reservations.

PLEASE DO NOT USE THE MARRIOTT ON_LINE RESERVATION AT THIS TIME. CUTOFF DATE for hotel reservations is April 30, 2007.

There is a conference rate $113 per night, which is the US Government rate for this area. This rate is good from Saturday night prior to the conference thru Friday night, the end of the conference. This includes single or double rooms. Guestroom Tax: 13.5%

Everyone gets the Government rate of $113. You may also make your reservation by email to c.ellis@marriottsales.com without your credit card number but the reservation will not be guaranteed beyond 6:00 PM. Each hotel room has wired internet connection at $9.95/day. Bring a cat5 wire with you.

Early Bird Conference Registration fee of $675 USD ends May 20th, 2007.
Regular Conference Registration fee is $725 USD.
Note, if you have to cancel your conference registration before May 20th, 2007, we will refund 80% of the registration fee. If you cancel after May 20th, 2007 we may have to keep additional monies to cover commitments we will make with the Hotel in your behalf. After May 1, 2007, we will consider refunds on an individual basis. By registering for the SGI User Group 2007 Conference, you agree to these terms regarding refunds.

Conference Meals

During the conference (Monday - Thursday) your registration fee includes breakfast, lunch, and breaks. There will be refreshments with Lunch. On Friday, the conference ends at noon, so no lunch is provided.
If you have any special dietary requirements, please let us know during registration or at our registration desk at the conference.

This hotel is ADA compliant. The conference organizers will make every effort possible to accommodate those attending the conference with disabilities. Please note any needed accommodations when you register for the conference and register with the hotel.

Airport Information

Minneapolis St. Paul International Airport (MSP) is located across the freeway from the hotel.

Please remember to have proper Identification, passports, etc. with you at all times.

Transportation

Taxis are available at the airport via the Tram Level. Signs direct passenger's one level up to the cab starter booth, where airport staff will assist passengers obtaining a taxi. One way fare to the hotel is approx. $10 USD.

The FREE Minneapolis Airport Marriott Hotel Van picks up at the airport at :15 and :45 minutes after the hour.
If you cannot find the hotel van, call the hotel at 1-952-854-7441.
To get to the place where the hotel van picks up, go down one level from baggage claim and follow the signs to ground transportation and then after going under the street in front of baggage claim, go up one level and look for hotel shuttles.

Self Parking at the Marriott hotel is free.
The hotel also has a shuttle to the Mall of America or it is not a long walk.

Telephone Messages

Each hotel guest room has voice mail/messaging capabilities.

Email and Computers

Each hotel guest room wired high speed internet, but there is a daily cost of ~$9.95 US. Bring your CAT5 wire. We are planning on some form of internet access in the meeting room area as part of the conference.

Smoking Policy

Smoking is not allowed in any conference meetings. This Marriott hotel is a non-smoking hotel.

110-120 Volts, 60 cycle standard United States power levels.

Currency

US Dollars is the currency used.
Foreign currency exchange, travel insurance and Western Union money transfer services are available at the airport, at TravelEx, between doors 5 and 6 on the Ticketing Level. A currency exchange booth is also located near the entrance to Concourse G, adjacent to Caribou Coffee.

Weather

Minneapolis weather in May highs of 72-75F and lows of 49-52F.
The trick is to bring something with long sleeves to wear outside in the evening and afternoons.
The hotel has an indoor swimming pool and whirlpool. Bring your bathing suit or buy a new one at the Mall of America.

Social Events

SGIUG plans to sponsor a reception Monday evening and a Partner Reception on Tuesday afternoon and evening.
Wednesday is the Conference Night Out.

The SGI User Group Wednesday night out is a Mississippi River dinner cruise on the Minneapolis Queen.
Bus leaves at 6PM, cruise 7 to 9PM. Bus returns to the hotel.
This is included in your conference registration fee.
Thursday night you are on your own. There are wonderful places to eat at the Mall of America.

Bringing companion, Children to the Social Events

Extra Wednesday "night out" tickets are available for $75 eatch at the registration desk.
