Conference MealsDuring the conference (Monday Thursday) your
registration fee includes breakfast, lunch, and breaks. There will be

People with DisabilitiesThe conference organizers will make every effort possible to accommodate those attending the conference with disabilities. Please note any needed accommodations when you register for the conference and register with the hotel. Airport InformationThe Munich Germany Airport (MUC) is located about 30 km from the Munich Marriott Hotel. Known as the Flughafen München GmbH.The Airport will answer questions from 6:00 to 23:00 daily by email or you can always obtain information at the main information desk. It is located in the Main Concourse on Level 03. In addition, information desks in the arrival and departure areas on Level 04 are staffed as needed. There are wireless hotspots throughout the airport. The way it works is Whenever you start your notebook or PDA in a hotspot, the software detects that you are in an area with wireless LAN (WLAN). You are then automatically directed to the WLAN start-up page. For information on clearing Customs at the Munich Airport visit http://www.zoll.de. For all other information at the airport, check the list of services. Please remember to have proper Identification, passports, etc. with you at all times. TransportationFor budget purposes, some estimated transportation costs to get from the Airport to the Hotel are:Shuttle service, fee: 9 EUR, Bus service, fee: 9 EUR (one way), The Airport Bus is also perfect for early birds and night owls. Beginning at 5:10 a.m. it departs every 20 minutes on a fast, comfortable, hassle-free trip to the airport. The last bus from the airport to Munich leaves at 9:45 p.m., letting you sit back and relax after your evening flight Subway service, fee: 9.0 EUR (one way), Estimated taxi fare: 45 EUR (one way) (One driver quoted me 75 EUR, so ask first. This is overcharging, so if you get over charged, get the drivers number and give it to the hotel concierge.) For Car Rental firms located at the Munich Airport Click Here Parking at the Marriott Hotel is 2 EURO / hour or 14 EURO 24 hours. Valet parking is no charge. Telephone MessagesEach hotel guest room has a cordless, speaker phone with voicemail.Email and ComputersEach hotel guest room is wired for high speed internet, but there is a daily cost of 19.95 EURO.The conference will have wireless internet in the meeting rooms as part of the conference. There will also be a small email room set up for you to read your email. Smoking PolicySmoking is not allowed in any conference meetings. Smoking is only permitted in designated areas inside the hotel.VoltageElectrical power in most of Europe, including Germany is 220-240 volts.Some US products run on both 110 and 220 volts so check your laptop and any other electric devices you may bring to the Conference. If the device will work on both voltages, you will still need an adapter to fit your square blade plugs into the round plug receptacles. If your device will only run on 110 volts, you will need some type of a power transformer or converter. Remember to match the watts your device needs to the capacity of the power converter, or you may have a smoke filled hotel room and get to meet some very nice firemen. CurrencyThe currency used in Germany is the EURO.There are currency exchange booths at the Munich airport and in Munich. The hotel will convert small amounts of currency at a higher than normal conversion rate. Banks and cash-points can be found in Munich. All main credit cards are accepted (with PIN code). Please note that the banks close during lunch time WeatherMunich daytime temperatures in June are typically in the range 15-30 C. Showers can occur. You will not need an umbrella or a poncho for the conference sessions, but if you want to go outside, you may want to bring them. Munichs elevation is 1736 ft / 529 so it might be cool in the evenings, bring a light jacket.Social EventsSGIUG will sponsor a reception Monday evening, SGI will host a Partner Reception on Tuesday evening. Wednesday is the Conference Bavarian Night Out at the Hofbrauhaus. This is included in your conference registration fee.Bringing companion, Children to the Social EventsThe night out is at a beer hall, so children will not be admitted. The cost for an adult companion ticket is $85 dollars.
